Apple pulls out of NAB,

With this last-minute movement one more piece is added to the rumors flying around Apple considering to kill  Final Cut and quit the professional market to focus, even more, on the mainstream market, moreover this comsumer sector provides them so many billions of dollars.

There are several things that are confirming the rumor: Avid throws in the towel, Shake disappears, Final Cut had in one year just to small pacthes but still is more unstable than its previous version, ProRes has serious bugs not yet solved, Final Cut Server has not seen the light, the "fake" version showed at NAB has becomed only smoke and mirrors, the Apple xRaid just disappear and now, just one month before NAB Apple pulls out the presence of the world largest event for professional audio&video ... at least Avid had the decency to announce it a few time after the past NAB.

It makes you to think about and unfortunately every step confirms the rumor of an announced death for Final Cut. I saw the birth of Final Cut when it was shown in private room demostrations as a 0.9 Alpha version running on Windows NT at the NAB in 1998 and it seems I also will see its death only 10 years later.

All these rumors intermingle with conjectures and the more daring ones talk about Apple and Avid gliding to create or to support the creation of a third company that would develop the pro-video apps, this way they will stop being competition. You already you know the saying: if you cannot beat your enemy, just join with him. Other rumors are pointing to Thompson buying all the Apple Video Pro-Apps.

I will continue tomorrow!
